Always gorgeous to find when combing the beach shingles. I remember trying to break open stones on the beach as a child myself and always with my girls. Only ever found a couple. But how amazing it is to own something that was formed over 45 million years ago and beyond.
This negative fossil of an ammonite was found here on our coastline near Whitby by a gentleman who spends hours and hours searching. He then sell them on so he can keep on searching.... What a lovely job.
The beautiful ammonite measures 6.5cm at its widest/longest point.
