Old Waterfall Oil Painting on Canvas

These are the style of paintings I love, particularly the mood and tones and shape of the canvas.  There is something about the style of the landscapes produced in the early 1900's, there is an expressional feel that was captured so well in the 20's and 30's in the way the oil was applied and tones of colours used. 

The painting is produced on a stretched canvas that has been reclaimed at some point from its original frame.  

The painting is signed and dated S E Battye, 1923.

It measures approx 55cm x 25cm

Please note there is a small hole to the top right (see photos) and a paint mark through the signature.
