A LIMITED EDITION MAKING PROJECT
'This Hour of Mine' is a creative journey just for you, a way to ensure you find those quiet moments, an indulgent hour here and there ... the simple pleasure of taking time, whether an hour a day or an hour a week, is such an important ingredient for relaxation.
I am delighted to present to you
“Be someone who makes someone else look forward to tomorrow”
The other week, I was talking with my teenage girls, about the importance of ‘a small gesture’. A kind word, a hug out of the blue, an unexpected helping hand towards a small task, a surprise invitation for no other reason than a desire to spend time with that person. We talked about how that small gesture can form a smile on another’s face, bring warmth and lift someone’s spirit.
We all hold a fondness to the idea of making something with love, the thoughtful details that can be treasured forever. This making project is not just about creating a beautiful embroidered centre piece for your table, but it is also about making time to bring family, friends, loved ones around that very table. A project to spread a little happiness. Your invited guests may not ever know the reason behind the gathering, (do we need a reason to bring our loved ones together), you may never hint that the piece you have lovingly stitched was made by your fair hands, but that centre piece decorated and weighted with a beautiful vase of flowers will be the embroidered anchor to that day and many more through the months and years.
This project has been designed for you to delight in a relaxing, stitching journey. There’s suggested stitches for you to use but please feel you have the freedom to use personal favourites if you have them. Before you start any stitching, you will create a beautiful floral composition from the templates enclosed, or if you feel you would like to take the project a step further, use the transfer pencil enclosed to draw your own design. You may decide to draw stylised flowers from your garden or collected from a walk. This is the beauty of This Hour of Mine there is always a little room for creative freedom too.
This project doesn’t have to be embroidered in a traditional way. We can dance with our stitches and respond to music to make our embroidery more expressive and characterful, try and embroider to different styles of your favourite music. There is also a reason why your project has arrived in a bag, to encourage you to embroider outside, in a park, at the beach, a café, at the top of a hill in the sunshine, on the train to work, perfect to take on your holidays. Embroider in an environment where you feel relaxed and happy and allow that contentment and sense of happiness to be captured in your embroidery, each stitch will then hold memories of music and/or of places visited. Remember, this project is about happiness and will finally lead to the beautiful, joyous sound of blended conversations around your table.
The making of this ‘Considered Translation’ project may take you a few hours, a few days or a few weeks to complete. The making stage has been collated together to take you as little as 10 hours or as many as 20 (and beyond) ... it is all dependent on the spare time you have and the details you choose to apply … There is no race to the finish line, no deadline, no competition to win, it is a simple indulgent, escaping and thoughtful project.
This project makes a perfect gift and can be sent directly to the recipient, just leave their name and address in the notes section when ordering. Purchases from The Linen Garden are always wrapped in a way that they feel like a gift.
I hope you can take part in this beautiful and creative project.
