Large Old Royal Academy Oil Painting On Stretched Canvas - Rambling Rose Clusters

Sold Out

Exquisite detailing....

A beautiful old oil painting on stretched canvas that appears to be of clusters of rambling roses.  What caught my eye was the gorgeous use of varied pinks against a neutral and verdigris ombre ground.  This painting is still in its original frame and has the original Royal Academy initial stamp on the reverse.  You may wish to keep the painting in the original frame or paint it a colour to suit your home as there are some marks to the surface here and there from its journey.  You may also choose to remove the frame and hang it just as a stretched canvas on your wall.

The painting is signed Alfred Coe (1860-1949) and was painted around late 1800's - early 1900's.  The canvas has an area to the left where a small amount of paint has come away and refilled with oil.  There is some crackling to the base of the painting and a couple of feint creases which suggests that the painting may have been stored and then restretched onto a frame later in its journey, maybe as a choice before exhibiting.

I have taken lots of photographs so you can see the detailing.

The frame measures approx 65cm x 59cm x 6cm

There is a little information about Suffolk artist Alfred Coe here.
