Old Staffordshire Cottage

£33.00

An Antique Staffordshire Cottage today is a wonderful collectable. These little pottery houses were made predominately during the 18th and the 19th centuries in England. They often resemble traditional English homes featuring charming details such as having thatched roofs, open windows and even grassy borders.

This is a lovely cottagey home with a lovely palette and hand painted detailing. It has an orange door and a series of leaded windows.  There are traces of gilt on the base border which are slightly worn. The flecks to the roof are a stylised suggestion of tiles or possibly thatch.

Good condition for age, just wear here and there to the hand painted details, nothing major.  The back is flat as all the Staffordshire cottages were (except the pastille burners) and this has a fine hairline but is not effecting the structure at all .  There's a couple of small chips to the petals of the flowers here and there.  Dates around 1850

Measures 15.5cm x 17cm x 5cm

Made by Staffordshire potteries.
