An Exquisite Scrapbook - Bookplates & Engravings

Sold Out

An "Oh My Days" find ....... I have taken lots of photographs as a visual descriptor. The photographs don't show all the pages but give a suggestion of the interest and layers.

This is the most exquisite scrapbook I have ever had the pleasure of purchasing.  When I first saw the cover I thought it would be typically full of colour plates and magazine clippings of the early 1900's but it is absolutely bursting with bookplates, lithographs and engravings that travel all the way through the 1800's, 1823 is the earliest I can spot but you may find an even earlier date.  Filled with portraits and life settings, landscapes and scenarios that were curated together in 1911.  There's original pages that are layered with prints but there is also additional prints that have been applied to make the pages seem never ending in their layering.  I have kept this for a few years as I just couldn't part with it.  This is the joy of owning the Linen Garden.  I have the pleasure of enjoying some items and allowing the m to stay for a while.

If you love old prints and their detailing and technique then you will adore this book and it will be a pleasure to hand it to the next appreciator.  There's so much to inspire and you could photocopy the pages to re-use in journals and hand colour for a past-time.

A discovery that I just couldn't leave behind and I hope someone will treasure it as much as I have.

It is in loved condition where although still all intact the back cover has come away from the central binding but is still attached to the front cover.  Doesn't really affect the album but wanted to point it out.

Measures 30cm x 24cm when closed.
