There is so much to be inspired by. When I was younger I used to love transferring old envelopes into embroidery. I would make an envelope from fine lawn or linen and then used tiny stitches to form the characters of the handwriting, stamps and franks. I think this is why I become so attached to them now, these have stayed in the studio for a while to be appreciated.
These appear to be the fronts of old addressed envelopes, franked before stamps were an invention. Dated 1827.
