When this piece arrived here in the studio I knew it was to stay a while so I could enjoy the details myself. This always happens with pieces that I adore, perks of the job!!! This embroidery has ended up staying here at No.17 for the last 6 years in my sitting room. It is now time to let it continue its journey. I am also selling her sister too within this collection.

I have been told that the centre hand embroidered panel on velvet was produced in the mid to late 1700's (possibly taken from an old table cover) with the hand made border lace panel being produced just a little later. The lace has been carefully hand made specially for the velvet panel. This piece in total has many a laboured hour.

It has been professionally framed some short time ago (about 30/40 years). I have taken lots and lots of photographs so you can see the details. The natural light has reflected off the stitches to make them slightly lighter in tone. Although the embroidery has been produced using natural based threads the embroidery allows the natural light to display it differently day and night. As the embroidered work is lightly raised it captures the light so well.

This is a rather large embroidered and lace panel and frame the size of the frame measures 52cm x 92cm. Some marks to the frame here and there from its journey.
