Storytelling - Upstairs Downstairs

If I was a writer I would begin to start the ideas behind a novel by collecting a group of objects together whether that be a vase, a piece of fabric, a postcard, a letter, a piece of jewellery or the date on a stamp.  In a romantic or adventurous way, hoping that this gathering would lead me on a journey to unravel a story.
