A beautiful stoneware relief moulded jug/pitcher produced around 1890 by James Dudson.

The pitcher is decorated with two oval panels showing scenes of angels symbolic of night and day.  The design for this jug was taken from a pair of plaques in the sculpture gallery at Chatsworth House by the artist Bertel Thorwaldsen.

Dudson potteries is one the oldest pottery brands in England, famous for majolica and jasperware and this beautiful relief style and elegant shape of pitcher.  There's a few Dudsonware pieces in this collection.


Measures 22.5cm in height 

Approx 135 years in age.
