A Beautiful Old Black Transferware Victorian Plinth Serving Plate
£35.00
Black transfer was used before the introduction of the traditional blues and browns. This beautiful old Victorian raised serving plate is a good early example of this. This lovely illustrative botanical design holds a couple of visiting butterflies and floating grasses. In good structural condition for age. This is raised so would look lovely in the centre of a kitchen or garden table to hold a vase or cake but it still has an old display wire attached for you to display directly to your wall. There is wear to the surface and edges from use and the journey its travelled, and if the wire is removed there will be for certain marks underneath here, but no chips or cracks.
Measures 29cm in diameter and 5cm in height.
Approx 160 years old.
Heavy in weight due to the ironstone and size.
