Antique Copperplate Printed in 1787 - Botany Tab III - Orders of Flowers

£16.50

A rare and precious find.

Last year I invested a little money in a collection of antique pages, exquisite copperplate engravings that date around 1787.

I have stored these beautiful botanical illustrations in the studio to allow time over the months to study their details and find inspiration.  I can't begin to tell you how wonderful the descriptive studies are, the ink still sits to the surface as if they were printed just this year.

To own just one or three of these engravings is an absolute treat and a special way of exhibiting wonderful history in your home by either framing them or storing them away to be inspired every once in a while.

The engravings are printed onto a cotton rag paper popular for its time and there is an embossed quality from where the copperplate has pressed into the paper which is just a detail that makes the illustrations even more beautiful.

Published by Alexander Hogg,  Kings Arms, at No 16 Paternoster Row in London.  Alexander was a famous publisher of the 18th century who specialised in books, maps and prints.

At the top of the page is the titles:

BOTANY Tab III

Linnean System

Orders of Flowers.
