Beautiful Old Worn Box of Brushes

This was quite a giddy find when I was on my search for old cutlery boxes. A joy to open it up and see that it was originally made to host lots of little brushes. I am not quite sure what they would have been used for possibly artists but maybe to clean intricate workings such as old clocks........ The brushes appear to be made from horse hair and some have quill ends as well as a few wooden rods. A rare and unusual piece. I have taken lots of photographs as a visual descriptor.
The box when closed measures 15cm x 7cm x 3cm
The box is very worn.
