This was one of those finds that stopped me in my tracks and actually took me a while to walk back to the car as the panels are heavy in weight.
A very rare panel. This heavy paper is stunning as it is made from a pressed moulded plaster to form the relief design, this would have been placed on walls and ceilings in palatial homes.
I have a few samples of this that is all. One has the "BRITISH MADE" stamp which dates it to the early 1800's at the first point of the Industrial Revolution here in England. This panel has been stored away for years and therefore the tones of cream slightly changes here and there along with a little foxing. A beautiful panel to tack on your wall as if it were a painting and enjoy a wonderful large fragment of design history. Truly stunning.
The panel has been slightly rolled so it will need to be stretch out on a wall or board using panel pins. Or you may wish to apply this to a wooden board or canvas that has been painted in a tone to suit the paper, then mount the panel onto this and then hang.
The panel measures 56cm x 53cm
Due to the size of this parcel it will be sent as a large parcel.
There are marks and knocks to the edges from its journey.
