This is one of the reasons why I search and search through old collections of photographs, hoping that one day I will come across a jewel such as this photograph. A professional capture of an old parlour, a blend of centuries of heirlooms and decorative detailing from family to family. It has been a joy to study this interior, looking at the paintings on the walls, the window drapes, the rugs, mirrors, lampshades.......endless decoration but everything has a place within the room. A room, I doubt, that hadn't changed over the decades.
A lovely piece to display on a shelf or your mantle in a quiet corner of your home. Or to be inspired by for your own interiors.
This is a professional photograph, unsure as to its purpose. Maybe captured for the family, or a selling agent of its time. Set within a professional mount and produced by Waymands of Blackheath, Streatham and Sutton.
There's foxing and marks to the mount, which it needs to set its journey. The photograph has speckles where the silver has started to separate (which is lovely too)

Measures 35cm x 26.5cm. Mounted within heavy card.
