The preciousness of old mother of pearl buttons is not to go unnoticed. Each made by hand in the 1800's, all carved from shell. Every now again in a collection found there will be buttons where you can see the raw surface of the pearl on the reverse, each having an individual surface. This collection (although the fronts are polished and in good condition) are a fine example of this beautiful rustic surface.
