Large Floral Victorian Papier Mache and Mother of Pearl Table Top
This is one of those pieces that just had to come home with me with my styling eye!!
Although it is reclaimed from a functional piece it is just an exquisite painting in its own right. Another piece that I have loved so much that it has leant on the top of a cupboard as part of a backdrop to a still life here at No 17. It has been here now for 4 years so time for a change.
This piece was originally a table top, maybe a card table in a ladies quarter. Although it is made from papier mache they were rather sturdy finishes of their time but as the years pass they become a little less durable and so edges become damaged. The surface is in amazing condition for age but the edges have taken a bit of a knock. So sections have broken away in areas. I actually have two of the sections that were in an envelope taped to the back.
Anyway if you love creating styled areas in your home you will adore this piece. It has a rope tie around the section where the table would have been attached so you will be able to tie a hanger from this so you could display on the wall if preferred.
The print is approx 150 years old.
"Please note that I cannot guarantee that small fractures may come away in transit from the edges, delivery drivers have a particular skill of time against care, but I will pack it with kindness".
Approx 70cm x 57cm
