This is one of those pieces that just had to come home with me with my styling eye!!
Although it is reclaimed from a functional piece it is just an exquisite painting in its own right. Another piece that I have loved so much that it has leant on the top of a cupboard as part of a backdrop to a still life here at No 17. It has been here now for 4 years so time for a change.
This piece was originally a table top, maybe a card table in a ladies quarter. Although it is made from papier mache they were rather sturdy finishes of their time but as the years pass they become a little less durable and so edges become damaged. The surface is in amazing condition for age but the edges have taken a bit of a knock. So sections have broken away in areas.
Anyway if you love creating styled areas in your home you will adore this piece. It has a rope tie around the section where the table would have been attached so you will be able to tie a hanger from this so you could display on the wall if preferred.
The print is approx 150 years old.
"Please note that I cannot guarantee that small fractures may come away in transit from the edges, delivery drivers have a particular skill of time against care, but I will pack it with kindness".
Approx 70cm x 57cm
