A beautiful old theatre medal. The RAOB (Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes) medal was commonly known as a jewel. It is an insignis of rank and service of membership from The Buffs, a major uk based fraternal and philanthropic organisation founded in 1822.
The RAOB was established at The Harp Tavern in London by theatrical stagehands and sctors. It operated on principles of trust, justice and philanthropy and provided mutail aid and charity.
There are dated bars attached from the years 1922, 1923, 1924.
In the original gifted box with makers stamp.
