Old Hand Painted Panels - Blossom

Some time ago I purchased this pairing of panels to place in the shop but I loved it so much that I chose to let it live here at No.17 for a while.  The perks of being a shopkeeper. 

These connected panels are from an old screen.  I have another set for sale too (which was the other side).  They both used to be joined together at one point but I purchased them parted.  As I have had them displayed on the wall as two separate pairings it seems to work well like this.  The reason for their original separation is that the wood where some of the screws were holding down the hinges has split very slightly but this has caused the screws to not wind back into the wood well.  

Personally I have got used to them being two sets and I found them more useful like this as I could display them at either side of a chimney breast on the wall or use them for display at a fair.  If you sell at fairs these have been rather splendid to use as a backdrop.

As you can see the paintings are beautiful.  Illustrations of beautiful foliage and blossom in warm tones.  I have taken lots of photographs as a visual descriptor.  The frame and the painting has marks here and there from its journey.  There is a white paint mark to the very bottom leaf on the right sided panel.  This paint is also in two small places on the frame too.  Some marks will remove with care if you feel you wish to tidy them up a bit but I have lived comfortably with them for some years.  

The reverse also has been painted with faded blue landscapes but at some part of its journey something has splashed, such as possibly tea, and left marks (see photographs).
