Old Keepsake Box

It is always a joy to find old beautiful keepsake boxes such as this. It has gorgeous marquetry detail borders and a mother of pearl tablet inlayed to the top. Inside has been relined, here in the studio, with an old French wallpaper dating from the late 1800's. It has a little tray that sits to the top of the box that is removable, this too has been lined all around. It would make a perfect keepsake box or sewing box. The lock is broken and the lid can't quite fully close leaving a 4mm gap to the front, not an issue but wanted to point it out. I have taken lots of photographs as a visual descriptor.
Box was hand crafted early 1800's maybe a little later.
A truly beautiful piece.
