Parure de Mariée (Memories from an Old French Bridal Box)

I found a lid to an old French bridal finery box on my travels and for the last few weeks it has hung on my wall until the inspiration arrived.  I adore the font, the decorative filigree details, the worn edges and dulled gold.  The details, the colours and original purpose have all been the starting point and inspiration in producing these pretty paper wallets. 

Each wallet contains:

old French and English bridal and dress lace panels,

an old floral printed French cotton panel,

a print of Carmencita by Sergeant,

a silk wrap,

buttons and decoratives,

an Edwardian lace panel that has the tiniest of glistening sequins,

old panels of hand printed wallpaper reclaimed from an old dress screen,

a torn piece of hand painted gold and pale blue tissue,

a snippet of ticking,

and a painted tissue panel

The wallet itself is constructed by hand tearing the edges to two pieces of watercolour textures paper, stitching around the edges and decorating with a lace panel to the base and a broderie decorative that has been hand sewn to fasten the wallet.  There is also a hand painted line of gold within the design to accentuate the original printed gold that was present on the box.
