A beautiful and rare find. Sourced on my last buying trip at Newark Antiques Fair.
It is always a joy to find these early screen printed linens where the design has a Bloomsbury touch and fabric holds the craft of the early printing techniques. This panel is exquisite. It is a narrow loomed panel where the selvedge is on each side. Large enough to cover something lovely, a long stool perhaps. Even a drape for a small window. A tablecloth a bag.....or just keep as an archive to your textile collection.
I think this maybe a very early studio Sanderson as the colour separation dots are illustrated in their style. The Papavers are beautiful in clusters against neutral shadows of themselves.
Late twenties/early thirties in age. It is like new.
