Portrait & Parchment - The Lady Clare

There is a quality to old paper that can't be captured in todays production.  It is a long running addiction of mine to always be bringing found ephemera back to the studio from my travels.  As fabric, it is time that makes the surface more delicate, and the edges soft and worn. I love how the papers tone changes in areas and there's marks from a journey travelled.  

Layered here are two examples of old paper, one a French hand written page from an old law firm and the other a beautiful etched portrait.  Both in well travelled condition but hold so much detail to either frame or use within a special project.

The paper is slightly creamier  than shown in the photographs.
