A Beautiful Late 18th Century Silk Embroidery

£135.00

A very beautiful and fine example of a late 1700's silk embroidery.  These hand embroideries are highly collectable and always a joy to find.  I have taken lots of photographs so you can see the exquisite detailing.

The embroidery is filled with delicate studies of flowers such as lily of the valley, tulip, peony, bluebells and others.  It also has a fine detailed embroidered cameo frame around the flowers.

Good condition for age, just fading to the colour as everything was dyed naturally then and the base silk has lifted from the under mount slightly in places. There are a few marks and wear to the silk due to its age.
This piece would have taken hours and hours to complete over the later decades of the 1700's.

The frame measures approx 47cm in height x 42cm in width.

The frame is the original but the inner mount has been replaced at some point on its journey with a silk mount which is a truly beautiful addition.  The frame has been re-backed around 20 years ago and has been painted gold at some point on its journey..
