Large Panel of Old Sanderson Narrow Loom Arts & Crafts Linen
£23.50
An exquisite panel of early narrow loomed Sanderson linen in a beautiful arts and crafts design. This was produced in the 1920's or early 1930's. Narrow loomed linen was the first fabric that Sanderson produced following its success in wallpapers in the mid to late 1800's.
A beautiful piece of textile history. The print is still as fresh as the day it was manufactured. As this was screen printed (possibly rollered) it has the dye pressed through to the reverse so the reverse is a feint impression of the design which I always like to use when making cushions or a bag. I have taken close up photographs of the design too so you can see the detailing within this beautiful print. I particularly like the checks and stripes within the stalks and stems and the very small flowers and their unusual shapes. The main arts and crafts flowers are just wonderful in detailing as if they were directly painted onto the linen and not printed.
A good size panel that measures approx 100cm x 78cm in width with a narrow selvedge. I found this linen only yesterday so it is a very new found piece of treasure. It is on a small bolt so more than one panel purchased will arrive as one continued piece.
