I can't begin to tell you how beautiful this painting is.

Exquisite tones and brush work to form a landscape that suggests the arrival of Autumn. Warm tones brush across the pond and reeds to the trees and the distant landscape. It is a view that requires time sat on a nearby rock or log and just watching the early morning light wake all of nature's details.

The canvas has three professional plaster mends to the back and two very small areas where the oil has come away. When you hold the canvas to the light you can see tiny areas where there has been slight paint loss over time. The gesso frame is highly detailed and the original gilt paint has dulled from its journey which suits the painting well. Again there's a few knocks and nibbles that reveal the plaster underneath and the wooden bones of the frame.

It is signed to the bottom left but I can't quite make out the name but not dated but sits at the earliest part of the 1900's.

The frame measures 51cm x 39.5cm x 4cm in depth
